Shampooing with Vinegar

I've had a few people ask me recently why I shampoo my carpets with Vinegar. Here are a few of the reasons.

1.) It is the ONLY thing I have found in all my research online that will get rid of the smell of cat urine. Whether a 50/50 Vinegar/Water solution or a 2 to 1 Water/Vinegar solution is your choice but I use 50/50. When I moved into my apartment recently the previous resident's cats and dogs had peed on the carpets. It smelled awful in here. I started with bleach but it didn't completely get rid of the smell. So I did my research and went to vinegar and it worked quite well.

2.) Vinegar helps control fleas. I'm not saying it's a miracle cure for getting rid of your flea infestation but it damned sure helps. It creates an acidic environment that the fleas do not like.

3.) Vinegar is the ONLY thing I have ever used on carpet that has actually softened my carpet! When I moved in here the carpeting was old and matted. The bleach helped some but the carpets were feeling kinda crusty after I bleached them. After the vinegar the rugs were fluffy and soft again. Almost like new!

I just did the carpets again in preparation for summer and flea season. Yeah, the house smells like vinegar but I opened the windows up to dry the carpets and air it out and it is so nice to walk on soft fluffy carpets again.

SO, if you can't get rid of your carpets, try some vinegar! It definitely works!!!
